Ralph Bunche High School Biology Class Planting Party

We are pleased to announce a budding partnership with Ralph Bunche High School!  The Wolverines will be joining us for applied biology and participating in a field trip while they help build the Living Wall!  Special Thanks to Miss Brown (science) and Miss Steele (Principal) for all their efforts to make this happen.  We can’t wait!

Upcoming Classes!

We will be offering classes in the coming months on Rainwater catchment Systems, Native Plant Identification, Growing Your Own Food, Grey Water systems, and building your own Living Wall.

Succulent Plant Drive! March 30 10am-2pm

Bring your 32oz containers and succulent cuttings to American Steel Studios any time between now and April 6th, or for the whole experience on March 30 from 10am-2pm, come drop off your succulents and containers, chat with the crew, and learn about what we are doing.


This wall will help beautify Oakland, provide habitat, and is a showcase of renewable and sustainable technologies available to all!

Since their conception,  living walls, vertical gardens, and green roofs have grown in popularity. Sprouting up on city buildings, in homes, museums, hotels, and now on our building in the industrial center of West Oakland, the development of new techniques and creative reuse of materials is making it possible to grow gardens almost anywhere.

More than just a fashion statement, living walls contribute to where ever they grow. A 50 meter squared patch of grass can produce enough oxygen for one person while pulling pollution and absorbing CO2 from the environment. The introduction of living walls allows plants to grow in areas….
